Description : |
The oil pads the telescope is floating on. We found out this week that telescopes cope best with an earthquake when fortuitously the oil pumps are off because the sun has just risen, and the telescope has been put to sleep. A problem with having the world's largest telescopes on a volcanically active site. Fortunately, ours is not.
